Former NSAA Musical Theater Student Receives 7 Superior Ratings at Regional Solo Ensemble

March 29th, 2012

by Angela Mack 3/29/12

Andrew Minkin is a sixteen year old from Mequon who became involved with the North Shore Academy of the Arts (NSAA) when he was in 3rd grade.  Since then, he has been in at least nine NSAA productions.

Recently, Andrew played the lead role of Pippin in Homestead High School’s Pippin.  This year, the regional Solo Ensemble competition was held at Homestead High School.  Andrew sang three solos and was in five ensembles.  Of those eight songs, Andrew received seven “One Stars” which is the highest rating that can be obtained.

Some of his solos included “Corner of the Sky” from Pippin, “Bright is the Ring of Words” by Von Williams and “Pie Jesu” by Bethany Zamora.

Andrew continues to be an asset to NSAA as a volunteer in the performing arts and marketing departments.  Currently, he is assisting as a vocal coach and director’s assistant in NSAA’s Stagekids Production of Seussical.  Andrew also works at The Rave/Eagles Club in Milwaukee as a marketing assistant promoting Rap shows and working with their booking agent.

Andrew would like to pursue musical theater as an actor after high school.  He has been looking at Oklahoma University as well as Boise State University.  He is currently auditioning for the Sound of Music at the Skylight Musical Theatre in Milwaukee.

NSAA is proud of Andrew and the leader that he has become and wishes him success in all that he does.  We see a bright future for him!  Imagine…Discover…Create…Dream Andrew!
