Happy February! From NSAA Founder/CEO Sheri Bestor

Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011

I’m so proud of the cast and crew of Beauty and the Beast, both the CPAC team and the Schauer Center Team! When I see everyone working together I’m reminded again about the impact of our mission– to reach even beyond the arts.

We are nearing our grand opening of the Arts Mill. I look forward to our community enjoying this new division of NSAA. We still have opportunities to volunteer and donate. There are two naming rights still available. (Send me an email if you are interested in learning more about this sherib@northshoreacademyofthearts.org).

Our Kids4Kids project will be launched soon. Kids4Kids is a program where Homestead High School Students work together with the mission of helping foster kids. We will be joining them in an exciting venture that will culminate in a presentation for the community. Stay tuned for more information.

Camp Rock and Hairspray are beginning within the next two weeks. I’m looking forward to being more involved in these shows as our focus at NSAA continues to be on programming through enriching opportunities.

Visual Arts, Imagine Me, Dance Classes, Zumba, upcoming UBM and Yoga, CCC and Paul McGill.   (He’s coming this Monday–you won’t want to miss it)….we strive to offer you a wide array of opportunities in the arts so that there is something for everyone!

As winter continues to blow its beauty, I hope you are able to find the moments to appreciate your unique creativity and how it helps you to see the world in vivid light.

“When we are writing, or painting, or composing, we are, during the time of creativity, freed from normal restrictions, and are opened to a wider world, where colors are brighter, sounds clearer, and people more wondrously complex than we normally realize.”Madeleine L’Engle

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
From Angela Mack, NSAA Marketing Director angelam@northshoreacademyofthearts.org

Contact:  Stagekids Community Coordinator/Director Debbie Knuth at debbiek@northshoreacademyofthearts.org or NSAA Founder/Stagekids Producer Sheri Bestor at sherib@northshoreacademyofthearts.org
NSAA Phone:  262.377.3514

NSAA Stagekids Present Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr. January 20-23

NSAA Stagekids will present Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr. at the Cedarburg Performing Arts Center (CPAC) January 20-23.  The 12:30pm matinee on 1/20 is already sold out leaving a 9:30am matinee on 1/20.

Other show times include 7pm on 1/21, 1pm and 7pm on 1/22 and 1pm on 1/23.  Tickets cost just $3 per child and $7 per adult.  The CPAC ticket box office number is 262.376.6161(Someone is usually in the box office M-F between 3 and 6pm.)

This time around, the leads will have a huge challenge.  Two casts (red and yellow) will be performing.  Each cast has a set of “leads”.  During the leads’ “off shows”, they will perform as chorus members.  Thus, all of our leads will be learning and performing two roles during the course of the weekend.  (This set-up is new to NSAA Stagekids.)

The casts are made up of 75 kids total from the Southeastern WI region ranging between the ages of 5 and 14.  NSAA has also partnered up with the Schauer Arts and Activities Center in Hartford, WI to present the same show at their location January 14 and 15 with an entirely separate “Hartford” cast.

NSAA Stagekids has been around for ten years and has produced at least two major shows per year.  Debbie Knuth has recently been promoted to the position of Stagekids Community Coordinator and Angela Mack has been promoted to the position of Stagekids Marketing Director.

NSAA has recently expanded by offering performing arts opportunities to adults.  Our last 2010 Spring adult/youth production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” was a huge success.  Our 2011 Spring adult/youth production will be “Hairspray”.  Auditions will be February 2 at NSAA (must pre-register).

We will be taking registrations for our next Stagekids Production of “Camp Rock” at the Beauty and the Beast shows.  Auditions will be held on January 31 at NSAA (must preregister).   Details on how to register can be found on our website http://www.northshoreacademyofthearts.org

NSAA Piano Theory/Composition Student to Release Original CD

Friday, October 15th, 2010

What Message Could a Wisconsin Teen Possibly Convey?

13 year old Stephanie Brill from Cedarburg, WI is SUPER excited to be releasing her first CD.    HEARTBROKEN JOKER is scheduled to be released at the beginning of November 2010.

Stephanie has been working with NSAA instructor Angela Mack for several years on piano theory and songwriting.  The 10 original songs on this album are the hard work of several months of brainstorming, editing, composing and writing.   Eric Swanson of Grafton is packaging it all together as a final product.

The album contains a great combination of songs that are humorous, meaningful, instrumental, individual and societal.  Stephanie’s lyrics are highly unique, poetic and visual.  The piano accompaniment is equally and uniquely creative.

Stephanie will be playing some of her piano instrumental music live at the Paramount Grille and Bakehouse in Grafton on Oct. 15 around 7pm.   Please stop by to see what the buzz about this young teen is about!

Stay tuned for more updates on this talented teen from Cedarburg, WI!
