We Want to Hear You!

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

Happy Autumn, Everyone!

Moving into our next decade of programming, we are excited to not only work to expand our offerings but to  look closely at what we are currently doing and refine to make improvements.

Being a part time operating organization, we are constantly seeking the most timely, efficient means of communication in all areas to serve you best. We are making some changes within the office. One procedure you can expect is that if NSAA receives a call or voice mail during the weekdays, Monday through Thursday, it will be responded to by the end of the next business day by an office staff person.

Additionally, Debbie Knuth has taken on the role of Stagekids Community Coordinator to answer all quesitons about any of our Stagekids shows. To reach someone most expediently, please use the following contacts. In addition, the office hours are posted below, so feel free to stop up in the office during those hours.

We look forward to continuing to grow in all ways. Your suggestions, support and continued interest in the arts is always appreciated.

Thank you.

Sheri Bestor, Founder, President, North Shore Academy of the Arts, Inc.

NSAA Collaborates Yet Another Summer with Bayshore Town Center

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

Communities that embrace the arts are known to experience quality of life. This is why North Shore Academy of the Arts (NSAA) has been honored to have collaborated with Bayshore Town Center for several years now.  This has been JUST ONE of the exciting collaborations that has been a “win/win” for the arts, business, and community!

Throughout the past several years, we have provided exciting performing arts venues such as “Broadway at Bayshore”.   Our Visual Arts Department has been involved with beautifying the outdoor courtyard and fountain space with our “Table for Two” restoration project.  We have been fully engaged in the Bayshore Town Center Chalk Festival, provided creative window displays for stores, and have provided summer weekly workshops for “Square Kids”.  Many of the Bayshore guests especially enjoyed our “Artists in Motion” weekly visiting artist workshops.

This summer, you will find visually stimulating benches and tables created by some of our most notable artists.  And every Tuesday from 11:30 to 1:30, bring the kids to the food court area for “Square Kids” FREE ART PROJECTS provided by NSAA and more!  Also stop and say “hi” at this year’s Bayshore Town Center Chalk Festival August 21!

          Visiting Artist Series featuring :

Andy Berggren

Andy began his journey as a photographer while earning a Bachelor of Arts in Radio-TV-Film at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. After graduating, he came to Milwaukee in pursuit of a career in video production. While continuing to work on his photography portfolio he soon realized that this was where his true passion lies. While specializing in architectural and fine art photography he continues to cover all aspects of the medium. His re-creation of famous images through the use of LEGO has gained attention and defined him as an innovative and unique photographer.

Adrienne Dyer

Two of my great loves in life are travel and photography. I eagerly stumbled upon my choice of subject as a recent high school graduate. Not realizing how big a part of my life photography would become, I initially took photos of places that were foreign to me as a way to journal my life. That focus quickly changed into a passion for photographing the adventure of difference experiences. The anticipation of the unknown, and the thrill I get when I find a new perspective on a culture inspire me.

M Randall

I find myself looking for that unique shot that digs deeper into the obvious.  It is usually a close-up that reveals details of an object or setting that is most often missed or unattainable by a passing glance.  I am attracted to weather related opportunities, in which the subject or objects can vanish rapidly.  I consider myself a “new-purist” who enjoys digital photography, but keeps photo manipulation to a minimum if any at all.

James Prinz

James Prinz is a 1979 graduate of Grafton High School. He received a BFA from UW-Milwaukee in 1986 and an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1988. Mr. Prinz founded James Prinz Photography in 1987 and works internationally photographing artwork for museums, universities, galleries, collectors and artists. He has had work published in many catalogues, books and also numerous international magazines and newspapers. James Prinz was the staff photographer at the Museum of Contemporary Art In Chicago from 1989 until 1995. He was the principal photographer with the Mellon International Dunhuang Archive at Northwestern University and has traveled to China 15 times to photograph Buddhist caves in the Gobi Desert. His duties with the project also included teaching advanced photographic techniques to members of the Dunhuang Research Academy as well as members of the Cultural Relics Bureau in Beijing. Currently Mr. Prinz has been collaborating with Chicago artist, Nick Cave, and has photographs and videos being exhibited in Cave’s traveling museum exhibition, “Meet Me art the Center of the Earth”. When not photographing artwork for others, James Prinz produces his own landscape photography. Mr. Prinz resides in Chicago with his wife and children.
