NSAA Stagekids Present Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr. January 20-23

NSAA Stagekids will present Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr. at the Cedarburg Performing Arts Center (CPAC) January 20-23.  The 12:30pm matinee on 1/20 is already sold out leaving a 9:30am matinee on 1/20.

Other show times include 7pm on 1/21, 1pm and 7pm on 1/22 and 1pm on 1/23.  Tickets cost just $3 per child and $7 per adult.  The CPAC ticket box office number is 262.376.6161(Someone is usually in the box office M-F between 3 and 6pm.)

This time around, the leads will have a huge challenge.  Two casts (red and yellow) will be performing.  Each cast has a set of “leads”.  During the leads’ “off shows”, they will perform as chorus members.  Thus, all of our leads will be learning and performing two roles during the course of the weekend.  (This set-up is new to NSAA Stagekids.)

The casts are made up of 75 kids total from the Southeastern WI region ranging between the ages of 5 and 14.  NSAA has also partnered up with the Schauer Arts and Activities Center in Hartford, WI to present the same show at their location January 14 and 15 with an entirely separate “Hartford” cast.

NSAA Stagekids has been around for ten years and has produced at least two major shows per year.  Debbie Knuth has recently been promoted to the position of Stagekids Community Coordinator and Angela Mack has been promoted to the position of Stagekids Marketing Director.

NSAA has recently expanded by offering performing arts opportunities to adults.  Our last 2010 Spring adult/youth production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” was a huge success.  Our 2011 Spring adult/youth production will be “Hairspray”.  Auditions will be February 2 at NSAA (must pre-register).

We will be taking registrations for our next Stagekids Production of “Camp Rock” at the Beauty and the Beast shows.  Auditions will be held on January 31 at NSAA (must preregister).   Details on how to register can be found on our website http://www.northshoreacademyofthearts.org

NSAA Jr. Stagekids Present “Schoolhouse Rock LIVE” December 13

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010

About “Schoolhouse Rock Live!”

“The Emmy Award-winning 1970s Saturday morning cartoon series that taught history, grammar, math, science and politics through clever, tuneful songs is not only making a small-screen comeback, instructing a whole new generation to “Unpack Your Adjectives” and “Do The Circulations,” it’s lighting up stages everywhere, from school multi-purpose rooms to university and regional theatres all around the country.  Tom, a nerve-wracked school teacher nervous about his first day of teaching, tries to relax by watching TV when various characters representing facets of his personality emerge from the set and show him how to win his students over with imagination and music, through such beloved Schoolhouse Rock songs as “Just A Bill,” “Lolly, Lolly, Lolly” and “Conjunction Junction.”  — taken from http://www.schoolhouserocklive.net/

SHOW TIMES:  5pm “Green Cast” and 7pm “Purple Cast” (each show lasts about 45 minutes)
SHOW DATE:   Monday December 13
SHOW VENUE:  North Shore Academy of the Arts, 1111 Broad Street, Grafton WI

About Jr. Stagekids:

NSAA’s all-inclusive Jr. Stagekids Program is designed for children ages 6 to 11 who are looking for musical theatre experience in a fun, safe and encouraging setting.   It is for those children who love to act, sing and dance.  Cast members make friends and build self-confidence while learning to deliver lines, act in character, sing and perform choreographed moves.  Many of our Jr. Stagekids go on to be in our all-inclusive Stagekids Productions.  From there, some have been hired for TV shows, hired by the Fireside Dinner Theatre as professional actors, pursued successful careers in communications such as the British Broadcasting Corporation and have even ended up on Broadway!  NSAA believes in encouraging, challenging and embracing every child regardless of what level they are at.

NOW ENROLLING* for “How Does Your Garden Groove?”

Children will have a fun filled time movin’ and groovin’ in Freddy and Franny Farmer’s vegetable garden.  This is not your typical garden-variety musical as the french fried potatoes have “appeal”, leafy vegetables sing “Lettuce Entertain You” and the corn and peas beg “Please Don’t Put Us in a Can-Can!”

Our focus will be on the process:  gaining self-confidence, learning theatre skills and making new friends.  The class will culminate with a lively show on our very own NSAA stage.  There will be costumes, props, scenery, singing and dancing just like on the “big stage”!  Fun, fun and more fun!

New TV Show, “The Healthologist” will Feature TWO Long-time NSAA Students From Cedarburg

Tuesday, November 9th, 2010

(Back L Kennedy Ross and Back R Rachel Ross with two other cast members Judaea and Roni featured in front)

Congratulations girls!

They auditioned in Chicago in September and have landed roles as cast members in the show, “The Healthologist”! See them throughout the trailer below.  (Rachel has also been cast in the current NSAA Stagekids Production as the lead, “Belle” in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.)

ABOUT THE SHOW

Chef Eric and his production team have selected the cast for his upcoming TV show, the show is called the “The Healthologist”.

The purpose of the Healthologist TV show is to address the childhood obesity epidemic by providing kids and their families with the means to learn about proper nutrition, fitness and sustainability. The goal of the show is to empower youth by teaching them how to make better food choices, prepare food using healthy cooking techniques, develop a proper exercise regiment and support the ecosystem.

The cast of the show will include the host Chef Eric Paul, a crew of phenomenal youth between the ages of 9 and 17 and several special guests.

A typical episode would entail taking a field trip to an organic farm, cooking a nutritious meal as a group, discussing fitness tips with a famous athlete and exercising for 10 minutes.

The shooting of the trailer was the first weekend in October in the suburbs of Chicago. The cast visited a park, a grocery store, a culinary kitchen, farm and fitness center.

Chef Eric Paul is currently Executive Chef and creator of Alter EatGo, which is a healthy ready-to-eat meal service based in Chicago. He has been featured on ABC, WGN, Fox, WCIU and his story has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Sun-Times and Defender Newspapers. As one of Chicago’s premier healthy chefs, he has worked with the AARP, March of Dimes and is a blogger for Chicago Tribune’s social media site, www.Chicagonow.com. Chef Eric received his culinary training at the Illinois Institute of Art and is currently pursuing his Masters in Nutrition and personal trainer certification.
The show is currently being pitched to viable networks.
